Green Tea With Mint
Green Tea Cream Frappuccino + Mint Syrup

What I think:
Stay in Starbucks long enough on a good day and you’d probably get to experience two of these adorable drink samples. Today I was lucky enough to get one a few hours in, just at lunch time! I always get a little excited with I see a barista walking around with a tray of these tiny cups. First, because I know it’s free. Second, if it’s something I haven’t tried before, I get a sneak peek without spending a single Peso! (Let’s be honest, the best things in life become even better when they’re free of charge. :p)

Today I got the Green Tea Cream Frappuccino with Mint Syrup. I was skeptical at first but, again, it’s free! So why not, right? And I was pleasantly surprised.

I was never a fan of mint in drinks unless it’s in my Mojito (which should be a completely different post… I should make a series about that too). I am particularly Anti Peppermint Mocha. But this was… very, very refreshing. It didn’t have any chocolate or mocha in it but it tasted a lot like the Mint Chocolates that I love munching on. This got me even more interested in The Grasshopper that my friend Paoline suggested.

Would I drink it again? Yes. It’s not too sweet and it’s perfect for a hot day~

You will like it if:
1. … you love mint.
2. … you need a slight change from your regular Green Tea Cream drink.
3. … you want to feel refreshed and cool and oh so chic.

You will hate it if:
1. … you hate mint (but try it anyway. I became a convert!)
2. … you are a purist.
3. … you’d rather just wait an entire year for Christmas and have the Peppermint Mocha.

Tweak it!
+ Add chocolate chips! I imagine it would taste even more like mint chocolate chip ice cream.
+ Add some Mocha drizzle to your whipped cream for an even more pronounced mint chocolate chip flavor.
– Ask for less vanilla syrup if you want it to even be less sweet.
+/- Order it hot and tell me what you think!

The Crazy Starbucks Challenge: Black Forest Frappuccino

[ What is TCSBC? ]

The Drink: Grande Dark Mocha, 2 pumps Raspberry, 1 pump Vanilla, add Caramel Drizzle
The Price: FREE! I used 12 of my Starbucks Card Stars. ♥
Actual Price: Php 220.00 (Around $5.00)

Black Forest Frappuccino

What I think:
See, I love Black Forest cake. It’s one of my three favorite cakes ever (ever, ever). I’ve tried this before but it’s been a while ago. So you can imagine how I felt when I took my first sip.

You get the perfect blend of Dark Mocha and fruity Raspberry in one sip. It may not be the traditional fruit in a Black Forest cake (note: Cherry), but it does the job. The drink is smooth and the “cake experience” is rounded out by the bits of chocolate you get every time you take a sip. And the caramel will remind you of that gooey part in a Black Forest cake that is just heaven on the taste buds.

It really does feel like you’re having your cake and drinking it too. I acknowledge the fact that, okay–that may sound gross for some people but no. NO. Get that icky feeling out of your system because if you like Black Forest the cake, I promise you, you will like Black Forest the drink.

Would I drink it again? Yes. It’s a little pricey so I’m going to add this to my list of drink options for when I’ve collected enough stars to get it for free. ♥

You will like it if:
1. … you like Black Forest cake.
2. … you liked the currently obsolete Starbucks Christmas drink, Dark Cherry Mocha.
3. … you’re craving for something sweet and creamy and dreamy delicious.

You will hate it if:
1. … you’re not a fan of Black Forest cake. (I know some people. I don’t understand.)
2. … you’d rather eat your cake than drink it.

Tweak it!
+ Add a shot of espresso to counter the sweetness. It won’t taste as close to a Black Forest cake as the original, but it should work for those who like more coffee taste.
– Skip the vanilla syrup and switch it with hazelnut. I hear it will make it taste like cupcake batter.
– Skip the vanilla completely to make it less sweet.
+ Try it warm. Order a Grande Cafe Mocha with the same syrup proportions.
+/- Order it twice blended and with the whipped cream blended in for more creaminess.
+/- Ask them to drizzle caramel in the cup for a more pronounced caramel taste.

The Crazy Starbucks Challenge: Hazelnut Soy Green Tea Cream Frappuccino

The Drink: Hazelnut Soy Green tea Cream Frappuccino
The Price: FREE! I used 12 of my Starbucks Card Stars. ♥
Actual Price: Php 210.00 (Around $5.00)

Hazelnut Soy Green Tea Cream Frappuccino

What I think:
This is my go to drink for when I’ve already had my daily overdose of coffee, but I still want to go to Starbucks. This is also my go to drink for when I’ve accumulated 12 stars on my Starbucks Card.

Quick trivia: Each time you purchase a Handcrafted Beverage with your Starbucks Card, you get one star. 12 stars entitle you to a Grande Handcrafted Beverage of your choice, with 2 free add-ons.

I love how creamy and satisfying it is. It tastes sweet, but not sickeningly so. You still get a hint of the leafy matcha taste but it’s not as overwhelming. Normally I order it with the whipped cream blended in, but for aesthetic purposes I opted to have it on top this time around. (I highly suggest you order it blended whip though, seriously, it changes everything. So, so yummy.)

Would I drink it again? Yes. I would drink it all the time if I could. ♥ But my thighs are already big enough and I can’t really go for too long without coffee.

You will like it if:
1. … you like a much muted matcha taste than normal.
2. … you’re a fan of the creamier and more sinful tasting drinks.
3. … you like soy milk.
4. … you want to experience how it is to drink the liquid version of that green tea Kitkat we all love. (I think this tastes better than that though.)

You will hate it if:
1. … you’re a purist and like your matcha just the way it is.
2. … you’re hoping for the punch of caffeine. You will get no black eyes here.
3. … you’re on a diet. Because after you taste it and you end up liking it you will totally want more. MORE.

Tweak it!
– Order your Hazelnut Soy Green Tea Cream Frappuccino with the Hazelnut as a replacement, not an addition. The Hazelnut will replace the Vanilla syrup that the Green Tea Cream Frappuccino has by default. It will result in a cheaper and less sweeter drink, but nonetheless still good.
+ Add chocolate chips. I kid you not. Do it. Add it. There will be no regrets.
+ While you’re at it, ask them to drizzle some Mocha syrup inside your cup. Good thing: it’s free of charge. Best thing: It will taste awesome.
